ポール・カー(Paul Carr)が同リストに投稿して、有名な Blooming Meadows に出てくる Ben Lennon が使ったこの語のことを '"nya" of a tune as being the sean[-]nos of the tune, or maybe something even more esoteric is at issue' と言っている。

William Kennedy on nyaa

The nyaa to Joe is the extension of a phrase ending into the next phrase, a nasalization that keeps the melody moving forward without the words in sean-nos singing. It has come to mean an authentic or natural folk style as opposed to that of a song stylist. On the 'Road to Connemara' transcript (here: http://www.mustrad.org.uk/articles/heaney.htm ) Ewan McColl asks Joe about this and actually plays contemporary folk singers, like Joan Baez, Judy Collis, etc. and asks Joe which of them 'has the nyaa'. Very interesting and should be printed out in case the site ever goes dark.

(Part 4:  The Nyahh; Characteristics of Gaelic singing style and international analogues.)。
