In 1969 Ó Riada’s band played a concert in The Gaiety Theatre, Dublin. The ensuing album has been regarded as a classic ever since, and was crucial in the outburst of quality traditional music in the 1970s. It has now been repackaged, and it includes three previously unreleased tracks that would not have fitted on the original LP. A historic recording which has never aged.
This is the concert held in memory of Derek Bell, the Chieftain who died in 2002. It’s a vibrant, beautifully performed show, with many guests, including Carlos Nuñez, Ronnie Drew, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin. Lively music, played at its best.
